Community Wide Prayer Walk for Schools August 20

You are invited Sunday, August 20, at 6:00pm for a community wide school prayer walk. Prayer walks will be taking place at Barclay College, Haviland Elementary School, Kiowa County, Pratt and Skyline. Prayer walking is just what it means. You walk while you pray.  Prayers can be silent or out loud. You can walk by yourself or with others. If you are unable to walk, a group will gather at the church to pray for our schools. What a joy to partner with God in prayer! Brockie is looking for a few people who will be point people at each school. If you are interested, please contact her and remember, all ages are welcome!!!

This Sunday is family Sunday. Preschool-5th grade will remain in the service. There are activity bags in the back for them.

The church air conditioner /heating units had to be replaced this past week. The cost was $12,000 for the two new heating/ac units. If anyone would like to donate specifically towards this project please mark “ac units” in the memo line of the check. It is greatly appreciated!

HFC is hosting an Ice Cream Social with the Barclay Students on Sunday, August 27, at 7:30pm in the Barclay Cafeteria. We will provide the ice cream and toppings and serve the ice cream. If you would like to donate or serve ice cream please sign up at the welcome center in the foyer or let Traci know in the office.

Family Camp at Camp Quaker Haven is September 1-4.

Men’s ministry: Colorado wilderness backpacking/fishing trip, August 17-20. Please contact Jeremie Frazier for details if interested, 620-655-5033.

Promotion Sunday is August 20. Help us celebrate our upcoming 6th graders into the junior high youth group and also the upcoming freshmen into the high school youth group!

The 2017 Women’s Retreat will be in Oklahoma City on September 22-24. If you are interested in going please let Traci know in the office.

Thank you to all the ladies who brought food in for me last week. I am continuing my recovery and it’s going well. From Sherry Morford

PRAYER CORNER

Youth Ministry

Haviland Friends Church has a strong history of growing and sending our young people into the next stage of life, understanding their Faith and God’s call. Please pray for discernment of the Holy Spirit as we balance the ministry needs of our youth with the resources of the Church.

Please continue to pray for Anthony and Micaiah Hughes and their family as they raise funds and prepare for their trip to Mexico. They are 80% funded!

The Haviland Heritage Foundation is trying to locate all the children ages 18 years and younger in the Haviland area who are direct descendants of the seven members of the original town company.  They were A. K. Kemp, R. D. Woodward, John Falter, Josiah Binford, H. F.  Siler, B. H. Albertson and I. H. Woodward. If you have any information about these descendants, please contact Lori Binford at the Haviland State Bank (620-862-5222binford@havilandtelco.com) or Jeanne Sneed (620-862-5448). We would like to include these children in the Southwest Thresher Show parade at the end of August.  HHF also plans to host a fundraiser breakfast in conjunction with community garage sales on August 26; proceeds will go towards the completion of the Haviland Heritage Museum located in the Heart of America Science Resource Center. If you would like to donate your cooking talents, please contact Lori Binford.
